Watershed Advisory Group Seeks
Professional and Volunteer Award Nominations
The Arkansas
Watershed Advisory Group (AWAG) is now accepting nominations for
the Ginger Tatom Conservation Award and the "Clean Water-Stronger
Communities" Volunteer Award. The AWAG is a "working group"
of representatives from state, federal, and private organizations
that promote local voluntary approaches to watershed management
and conservation.
The Ginger Tatom
Conservation Award is in honor of Ginger Tatom, an Arkansas Department
of Health employee who was instrumental in the formation and planning
of the Arkansas Watershed Advisory Group. Ginger lost her battle
with cancer in 2003, and Arkansas Watershed Advisory Group representatives
have named this award in her honor to exemplify the extraordinary
dedication of a professional working in the field of water conservation
and resources.
The "Clean
Water-Stronger Communities" Volunteer Award will be presented
to an individual that has made exceptional progress in getting their
community engaged in environmental awareness.
Nominees for
both awards should be chosen because they have made a positive difference
in Arkansas' environmental quality of life.
Nominations
must be received at the ADEQ office in Little Rock no later than
2 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2008. Nominations are accepted via
email (mcnulty_at_adeq.state.ar.us), regular mail (Ellen McNulty,
Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, 5301 Northshore Drive,
North Little Rock, AR 72118), or fax (501-682-0910). The nomination
submittal packets include nomination forms, criteria for nominations,
and a nomination agreement form for each award. Please review the
nomination criteria for both awards carefully. The completed packet
must be returned before an individual will be considered by the
awards committee. Incomplete nomination packets will not be considered.
The recipients of each award will be selected by the 2008 AWAG Awards
Committee. Nominees are not required to be representatives of AWAG
nor involved in any of its activities.
The awardees
will be honored at a special awards luncheon on November 1 at the
Hilton Little Rock Metro, Little Rock, Arkansas, as part of the
AWAG/Stream Team 2008 Watershed Conference.
